2026 Graduate Reasearch & Creativity ShowcaseThursday, April 9, 2026 at 1:00 PM until 3:30 PMEastern Daylight Time UTC -04:00Elliott University Center - Cone BallroomGreensboro, NCUnited StatesIMPORTANT INFORMATION: Showcase is open to any currently enrolled UNCG graduate student engaged in original scholarship with a UNCG faculty member. Submissions are limited to one per student and one student per submission (faculty and non-UNCG graduate individuals are not eligible to be judged). Showcase is not intended to replicate an academic conference in your discipline; instead, it is an opportunity to share your work with a far broader audience. Therefore, your poster and presentation should be intended to communicate with the general public and not specialists in your field. It should be free of technical language and discipline-specific jargon and should address the broader impact of your work. The information entered below will appear on our website as it is entered here. Therefore, please follow the capitalization conventions of your discipline and double-check your spelling. For sake of consistency, please DO NOT enter names or titles in ALL CAPS; proper nouns should be capitalized, and faculty mentors' names should be listed as they appear in the UNCG Directory (http://directory.uncg.edu/) with their proper title, etc. Completion of this registration is required to be recognized in Showcase. The Graduate School will request validation of your submission from your Faculty Mentor. The in-person competition will take place Thursday, April 9, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Elliott University Center on campus. Students are only required to be available for 1 hour to present to the judges. All participants should plan to present for 7-9 minutes and allow 3-5 minutes for judges to ask questions and discuss their project. Participants will have a maximum of 12 minutes to present and discuss their work with the judges. Following the competition, a winner from each category will be selected. With $6,000 to be awarded, it’s a great opportunity for students! If you have problems or questions when entering your information, please contact Laura Drew at ladrew@uncg.edu. An IRB review is required prior to the initiation of any research efforts involving human subjects. Any issues can be directed to ORI@uncg.edu. To determine if a project will be NHSR (Not Human Subjects Research) or if they need to complete an IRB, utilize this tool to make that determination. https://uncg.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0JtrExVfe3MQX66 If you might need IRB approval, DO NOT begin collecting data before obtaining authorization. Following federal regulations, the UNCG IRB cannot give retrospective IRB approval to any research-related data collected before the institutional IRB Committee reviews and approves the project. Does the project you are submitting involve a systematic investigation including research development, testing, and evaluation, involving identifiable human data or direct interaction or intervention with humans which is designed to develop or contribute to generalizable knowledge? To be considered a “systematic investigation”, the concept of a research project must meet all of the following: Attempt to answer research questions (in some research, this would be a hypothesis). Is methodologically driven, that is, it collects data or information in an organized and consistent way. The data or information is analyzed in some way, be it quantitative or qualitative data. Conclusions are drawn from the results.
